Zimmerman Named President of Murphy Desmond S.C.

Murphy Desmond S.C. is pleased to announce that Attorney Jane F. (Ginger) Zimmerman has been elected to serve as President of the firm, effective May 30, 2017. Ginger will oversee responsibilities held most recently by Attorney Tim Valentyn, which includes overall firm management and business development, in addition to representing her clients. Valentyn has taken on a new role as EVP General Counsel for Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation after 28 years with Murphy Desmond, however, he will stay on with the firm in an of counsel capacity.

Ginger joined Murphy Desmond in 1992, and has served as the firm’s Chair of the Board of Directors, as Managing Shareholder, and as Practice Group Leader for the Creditors' Rights, Business Bankruptcy and Commercial Litigation practice team.  As President of Murphy Desmond, she will continue to practice law in business, real estate, bankruptcy, secured transactions, agricultural and commercial transactions, and commercial litigation.  

Throughout her career, Ginger has received accolades for her professional and charitable work. She is recognized on lists for Best Lawyers® in America (including 2016 “Lawyer of the Year”), Wisconsin Super Lawyers, Top 25 Female Super Lawyers, and she is rated AV (top rating) by Martindale-Hubbell/lawyers.com. In 2016, she received the United Way of Dane County "Woman of the Year" Philanthropy Award from the United Way Women's Leadership Council. 

Ginger earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1985, and her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. in 1982.
